Picture Pro Platinum 3.1 Gather knowledge about Digital Photos “Part-II”
If you want to work with still picture (digital photos) at first you should gathers some basic knowledge about digital photos. You should have a clear idea about the image size, resolution, color, file size etc. We measure image size by pixel or, inch. For better understanding, I took a picture of 54pixel (width) by 40pixel (height) picture-01 and then I zoom it by 10 times picture-02 and obviously you see in the second picture show some squire dot’s each row’s and column dot’s are called pixel.
So if I say 640×480 pixels it contains 640 columns and 480 rows of pixels. The image resolution is measured by dpi, an abbreviation for dots per inch. Image sizes divided into four categories that reflect the image quality:
- High resolution is for photo quality print output. Images from 2000×2000 to 4000×4000 pixels are used for full-page printing.
- Medium resolution is for desktop printing and full screen viewing. Images around 1000×1000 pixels are good for this purpose.
- Medium size screen viewing or video output for TV. Images around 500×500 pixels are best.
- Low resolution is for e-mail and web site use. Images around 300×300 pixels are best.
Normally digital photos contain the following color depth.
1 bit (2 colors, black and white)
4 bit (16 colors)
